Season 7- : Can Bath City defy the odds and avoid relegation in their first season in the Championship?

As we head into the new season, the Bath City squad is looking strong and ready for the challenges that lie ahead in the Championship. Our preseason results have been impressive, with victories against Cliftonville, Ipswich, Cardiff, and Notts Co, and a hard-fought draw against Sunderland. The team has gelled well and our attacking style of play has been on full display, with players like Divin Mubama and Samson Tovide leading the charge upfront.

One of the standout performers during preseason has been James Norris, who has impressed in both midfield and defense. His vision and passing ability make him a key player for us going forward. Another player to watch is Russ Woodhouse, who has shown great potential at the back and will be a key player in our defense.

We have made a few key signings during the transfer window, including Divin Mubama from West Ham and Lino Sousa from Arsenal. We have also brought in Varazdat Haroyan as a free transfer, and Ulises Kuszej on loan from San Lorenzo. Unfortunately, we have also had to say goodbye to some important players, including Emre Kurtoğlu who has joined 1. FC Köln for a fee of €850K. Losing Emre was a blow, but we have moved quickly to bring in Varazdat as a replacement and we remain confident in our capabilities and depth at the back.

The tactics for the season will focus on attacking football, with a strong emphasis on ball possession and creating chances in the final third. The team mentality will be set to attack, and the team will look to play fairly narrow and work the ball into the box. The midfield will be tasked with driving forward and supporting the attack, while the fullbacks will look to provide width and overlap. In transition, the team will look to counter press and counter attack, and the goalkeeper will be set to throw the ball long. Out of possession, the team will set up in a mid-block, with slightly higher pressing and a standard line of engagement and defensive line, and look to prevent short goal keeper distributions. Tackling will be important, and the team will aim to stay on their feet to reduce the risk of cards and injuries. The pressing forwards will be key in triggering the press and winning back possession high up the pitch. Overall, the aim is to dominate games and outscore the opposition.

As a newly promoted team, we are aware that the Championship will be a much tougher league than League One. We are the underdogs and the bookmakers have us as favorites for relegation. However, we are not deterred. With a young and hungry squad, a strong team ethic, and a clear tactical approach, we are ready to take on the challenge and prove our worth. Despite having the lowest average player wage and transfer value in the league, and below average attribute stats in most areas, we have a team that is more than capable of competing. We will focus on our strengths, work hard, and give our all on the pitch. With a bit of luck and some hard work, we believe that we can have a successful season and avoid the drop.
